Futility Shapes

Near death, Adam wakes in a hospital bed. His life was saved by experimental means. He is forever changed... no longer human. Now, something else... What is this horrible sound that only he seems to be able to hear? Is this all in his head? Something is coming. Something from the far-reaches of space. Does Adam have any humanity left? Or is this the end of Adam, and everything else as we know it?
